We have lots of catching up to do...and may get there, or may just skip over most of December. But I figured I'd start with an easy one. The Saturday after Christmas, the Toyota Corolla we found for Nate in September, after 4-5 months of searching, may have met a premature death. We were heading to a movie with Nate's parents (they were a few minutes behind us in their car), driving in the right lane, when a car just ahead of us in the left lane spun on the snowpacked roads, and ended up facing us in our lane. Head-on collisions traveling at slow speeds aren't very fun (although I imagine they're worse at fast speeds) because you're just sitting there staring at the person you're about to hit, and everything seems to be in slow motion. The airbags went off, but our seat belts did what they're supposed to and prevented us from lurching forward and hitting the air bags. Fortunately, neither one of us was injured, although I have been chastised several times because I didn't go to the hospital to have the baby checked right away (don't worry, I've been to the doctor since then and everything is fine. Now I know for next time). We're still waiting to hear from the insurance company, but based on the damage to the front end of our car, we're guessing it's totaled. The guy in the other car was fine, and actually was able to drive his car away, so we got the worst of it. We're not looking forward to another car search :(
PS - Nate likes to name his cars. This one was White Lightning. I've never been a big fan of naming cars, but go along with it to entertain him.
PPS - I'm looking out my window at work watching the snow fall, and really dreading the drive home.
