Rainbow Ladder & Frosty

Once again, we have had a variety of weather…we went to the park one Saturday for a picnic lunch, and Bennett told me he wanted to go play on the “rainbow ladder”. I thought he meant the climbing wall that had colorful handholds, but he was talking about this “rainbow ladder” (the ladder shaped like a rainbow):

We had a snowstorm last week where we probably got as much snow as any other storm this winter. Bennett and I took advantage and made another snowman – not quite as big as the one he made at his grandparents’ house, but way bigger than the last one we made.

The Zoo, the Snowman, and the Park

Last Wednesday, I took the kids to the zoo for the last free zoo day of the winter. When I woke up to snowflakes falling at our house I almost backed out, but I had already told Bennett we were going so I decided to just bundle up the boys and make the trek up there. It actually was better than I thought – no snow, and it warmed up a little towards the end. It was fairly crowded, but not awful (I’m sure if it had been better weather it would have been crazy).

yes, the blurry elephant in the background is the only proof that we were at the zoo. I tried to get Bennett to get out of the stroller so I could take some pictures of him with more of the animals, but he didn’t want to.

On Saturday, we dropped the kids off to play at Nate’s parents’ house while we went to lunch with some friends who are moving next week (we’ll miss you guys Jess & Andrew!). Bennett and Ryan loved playing at Grandma & Grandpa’s house (and talking Aunt Anna’s ear off), and we hung out there for a while when we got back from lunch. Their house tends to have more snow than ours, so Bennett went outside with Nate and his dad to play in the snow. They made this big snowman in about 5-10 minutes – it was perfect packing snow!

It was warm enough the next day that the snow had almost all melted when we went back up for Sunday dinner – the snowman was still mostly intact but quite a bit smaller, and the grass was pretty much cleared off. And it was even warmer today – after the kids’ naps we took advantage of the spring-like weather and went to the park. Bennett rode his “bicycle” (as he calls it) all the way there and back. We had fun on the swings and trying out all the different slides. Hopefully we’ll be able to enjoy some more warm days at the park!
