More Bennett Pictures

I'll be honest - I'm not in the mood to write much. The past week has been great and we are loving our time with little Bennett. I figured people like pictures more than reading anyway :)

(I know we look a little scary in this picture, but it's the best family picture we have so far)

His first bath (at home) - he loved it :)

Bennett Nathan Packer

Bennett Packer has finally arrived. He's a healthy guy weighing in at nearly 9 lbs. Here's one of my favorite photos so far.

Hole in the Wall

Nate and I had a big milestone a month ago. We put our first hole in the wall. We finally hung up my clock, and last weekend we got a little more adventurous and hung a set of 4 pictures on the wall. It was more difficult than I thought it would be to get them all lined up just right with each other, with the wall, and level with the floor, but in the end we liked how it turned out. My brother didn't believe we actually got up the courage to do it, so he demanded proof. Here it is:

For those looking for an update, we're still waiting for the baby to come. I went to the doctor today and everything is fine with me and with the baby, but things don't seem to be progressing very quickly. They scheduled me to be induced Sunday night if the baby hasn't come by then - I still would like him to come earlier but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. It's at least nice to have a date set so I know it won't be later than that. In the meantime, my mom came into town this week so we've had fun getting everything ready for the baby. His room finally looks like a baby's room rather than a storage room with stuff strewn everywhere. Our next project is finishing the bedding - if we have until Sunday we should be able to get it all done by then, and I'll post some pictures of the finished product.
We did find a car last weekend too, which has made life easier. It's nothing fancy, and I feel a little nerdy that we now have 2 Honda Accords, but this one's at least different - it is a couple years newer and a different color. Now we just need some bikes to put on the bike rack it came with.

D Day...But no baby yet

Today is officially my due date, but the little guy hasn't decided to make an appearance yet. I finished up my abbreviated busy season at work on Friday - hooray!! - so now we're ready whenever he decides to come. Here is me looking rather large on my official due date. We'll try to keep the blog updated and will hopefully have some baby pictures to post sometime this week :)

One Week to Go!

We obviously haven't been great at blogging lately. No great excuses, we just didn't have many pictures to post and didn't feel like writing :) Before I get into a quick update, we're still undecided on a name with just a week to go (until the due date at least, we'll see when he actually comes). So, we turn to our blogging friends for help. We've narrowed it down to just a few names, but have a hard time deciding between them. See the poll on the right hand side.

It's been a pretty busy month for us. We had a great Christmas here in Utah with Nate's family, and went to Newport Beach for my friend Kim's wedding on January 2nd. We do have a couple of pictures from our trip down there. It was fun to get away from the cold for a few days, even though it wasn't as warm as we were hoping. We stopped in St. George on the way down and stayed at Nate's grandparents' house, which was nice to break up the trip. I had fun catching up with my sister and friends, and the wedding was great. We're so happy for Kim and Dave - she looked beautiful and they both seemed very happy. We made a quick trip to the beach and were able to visit Nate's aunt & uncle and cousins in Newport Beach too. We did manage to get a couple of pictures of the trip, so I'll post them.

Since we got back, we've both been busy with work and with getting everything ready for the baby. Nate's been able to go skiing a couple times, and I've been able to spend a couple of Saturdays working on making the crib bedding (pics to come...if I ever finish it!). The car seat came in the mail last week, and we picked up some diapers yesterday so we're ready for him anytime, although the nursery's not all set up and I don't feel completely organized, so it would be nice to have a couple days after I finish work to get really prepared. Work has been really busy for me the past couple of weeks with a couple of big busy-season deadlines this week, so hopefully I can survive one more week (I was secretly hoping that working a lot would put me into labor early, but so far no luck). On top of busy work and trying to get ready for the baby, we're looking for a car to replace White Lightening, which did end up being totaled. We've gone back and forth several times on what we wanted to get - another gas-saving Corolla, a "family car" sedan, or a 4-wheel-drive of some sort (probably SUV). For now we're focusing on an Accord or Camry, we're just hoping we can find a good deal soon - the carpooling and shuffling gets old, and is hard when I'm working late. Wish us luck!
