Sunny Saturday {Jan 25}

Last Saturday, we didn’t have anything going on and sunshine was in the forecast, so we got a picnic lunch ready and headed to a “beach” park on the lake. It was beautiful and sunny…until we went down the last hill to the lake and realized the fog over the water hadn’t burned off yet. We had our picnic in the cold, then drove back up the hill to a park we had passed on the way. The boys had fun playing baseball, frisbee, and tag, and playing on the playground. We went back down to the lake and had fun walking out on the path that goes over the water. It was great to be out in the warm sun!

One Month {January 8}

Our little baby Eliza is now one month old (plus a week or so). She still seems like a newborn in a lot of ways, but is starting to be awake more and isn’t always just scrunched up. She usually has one 5-6 hour stretch between feedings at night, then another 4-hour one. I really can’t complain! Here are her one-month stats:

Height / Length: 23 inches, 95th Percentile

Weight: 10 lbs 13 oz, 95th Percentile

Head Circumference: 95th Percentile

She doesn’t seem that big to me, but I’m sure if I saw another baby the same age she would seem big :)

 

           

Inside & Outside

Bennett and Ryan have done a great job of staying occupied despite being indoors a lot lately (winter + newborn + flu season means we don’t get out too much). Their new Christmas toys have kept them fairly occupied, and they often use their imaginations and pretend things – usually that they’re spies (they try to sneak up on me without me seeing them). The other day I was busy feeding Eliza and making dinner, and they were in the other room pretending to go on a trip. Apparently they inherited my packing skills, because going on a trip consisted of fitting as much as possible into their imaginary car. They set up their chairs with books & coloring supplies under their seats, and blankets, stuffed animals, and who knows what else in the back.

  

The weather has been relatively nice this week (50 and no rain) so we met up with some friends at the park/farm to take advantage. The kids ran everywhere they went and had fun playing together. It was great to get outside!

  

And a couple of Eliza, mostly for her grandmas :)

 

Weekend Report

I’m skipping Christmas (for now) because it will take too long to post :) For now, I’ll do a little update on last weekend. After a fairly low-key week (Nate was back to work, except for New Year’s Day) we were feeling a little cabin-feverish on Saturday and ventured out to a park nearby that has a little farm in it. It was a sunny day for a change, so it was nice to walk around outside for a while. The farm had horses, goats, pigs, sheep, chickens, rabbits and cows. And a couple of cool barns. We had Eliza all bundled up in her car seat, and she slept the whole time (she seems to like it in there, fortunately!).

 

In the afternoon, the boys really wanted Nate to take them on a bike ride. They rode around the neighborhood, and when they got back, Bennett wanted Nate to show me on the map on his phone where they had gone.

Eliza and I braved part of church on Sunday – she stayed asleep all covered in her car seat so she wasn’t too difficult. I took a few pictures of her in her new dress. She had little shoe designs on her tights, but when Nate was getting her dressed, Ryan insisted that she needed to wear her shoes, so we gave in :)
