Ryan’s 2nd Birthday

We celebrated Ryan’s 2nd birthday a few weeks ago in a fairly low-key fashion—we had waffles for breakfast, took Bennett to the doctor for an ear infection and several days of fever (which Ryan also acquired a couple days later), then had dinner (his request: spaghetti) and had Camille and Bryce over for cake and ice cream (it was supposed to be a rocket ship cake but I ran out of time, so it just says Ryan :) We watched the NCAA basketball championship game while Nate and Bryce assembled Ryan’s presents.

He was pretty excited about the presents he opened that night – a scooter and a tool workbench thing from Nate & I, and a cute outfit, bubble wand, and dump truck from Camille & Bryce and my parents. A few pictures to document the day:

Coloring Eggs and Conference

We had a pretty low-key weekend – I was recovering from a bad cold/flu (that included an ear infection and vertigo/dizziness issues), and the boys were both sick. We spent most of the weekend watching LDS General Conference and just hanging out around the house. I feel bad saying this, but it was kind of nice that the boys didn’t have a ton of energy – they sat by us and colored while we watched Conference for almost a whole session. Bennett was feeling pretty well Saturday afternoon, so in between sessions we managed to FINALLY color some Easter eggs (I had boiled them the week before but we just hadn’t found the time to color them). The boys (Nate included) had fun trying out different stripes and colors – except that Ryan usually just wanted to do red. A few pics of our egg-dyeing adventures (I should probably make Ryan his own non-girly apron):

Happy Easter!

We had a fabulous Easter Sunday – we had great messages about Christ and the Atonement at church, then after naps went up to Nate’s parents’ house for a yummy Easter dinner and easter egg hunt for the kids. A few pictures of our day:

the boys in their matching Easter ties. We were walking out in our backyard to take the pictures and told the boys to watch for dog droppings. As we were walking back in, Ryan said “Sing song” then started singing “watch for poops, watch for poops, watch for poops”

Bennett & his Bowl of Eggs (we had brought little buckets for the boys, but Nate’s mom and I had both filled quite a few eggs, so they ended up with far more than would fit in their little buckets), and Ryan wasn’t sure what to think of the Peeps stuffed inside his eggs

Home & Baby Avery

On a Friday night a few weeks ago, I was supposed to go see a movie (movie will remain unnamed to prevent embarrassment) with my little sister Camille. I was meeting her at the dollar theater and she called on her way there to tell me she thought her water had broken. She called her doctor and asked if she could wait a few hours to go to the hospital, but sadly we had to skip our movie and she went straight to the hospital. After an all-night labor, little Avery was born Saturday morning. We picked up my mom from the airport and went to see Camille & Avery at the hospital. Here are a few pics from the weekend.
