Month 19 {May 16-June 15}

We started the month with the kids’ one-week Pentecost school vacation, and spent most of the month adjusting to being on our own – without our moms, and for part of the month, me alone with the kids while Nate flew back to the U.S. for work. A few highlights from the month:

Whit Monday: a work holiday for Nate, so we took advantage and went for a short hike to Schiessentumpel Falls in the Mullerthal region of Luxembourg. The hike was much shorter than we expected since the waterfall was about 5 minutes off the road, but the waterfall was even more beautiful than expected. It was a fun little low-key adventure.

Staying entertained during the kids’ Pentecost break: playing with Lincoln, dancing raisins science experiment, playing foosball when we met Nate for lunch, and spending hours at the park at the bottom of the hill.

Saturday morning spent riding scooters and bikes, and a Saturday evening bike ride to downtown Lux (Lincoln and I took the bus and met them down there) for some gelato. Side note: Behind the ice-cream eating kids, you can see part of a colorfully painted piano in the background. Every year in the late spring / early summer, the city brings out painted pianos to the main plazas / various locations around town; anybody can play them.This one was set up on the Place D’Armes.

The boys had a primary activity in Nancy and the Primary President offered to give them a ride, so we had a free Saturday. We took a little trip down to Rodemack, France (about 45 minutes away). Rodemack is a little Medieval walled city that had some cute little streets and a fun little garden.

A Sunday walk through the woods of Bambesch. We didn’t go very fast because there were tons of slugs and snails along the path (some were really big!). The woods were really pretty after the rain.

Walks to and from the bus stop – checking out the snails, and holding hands.

Nate went to Seattle for work for about a week and a half at the beginning of June. Several of the kids got sick with a stomach flu and we kept busy and tried to keep sane while he was gone – a trip to the Castle Park with friends, Ryan talking to Nate on facetime early in the morning, and trying to stay cool in front of the fan.
