The night after Nate had finished his finals, we took Bennett and Ryan up to Temple Square to see the lights. The night before, we had gone to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert with Nate’s family – which was great. It is such a fun way to celebrate Christmas. The guest singer this year did a great job, and one of my favorite parts was when Jane Seymour told the story of Good King Winceslas. They even had some really cool fake snow that came down from the ceiling – at first it looked like confetti, then we realized they were foamy bubbles of some kind, but they didn’t leave a residue when they landed on us. We thought it was pretty impressive. Anyway – after braving the traffic and parking that night, we figured it would only be worse on Friday so when we took the boys to see the lights, we parked in Murray and took the TRAX train downtown. We didn’t spend too long at Temple Square but enjoyed looking at the beautiful lights and all the nativity scenes from different countries. We were bundled up pretty well, but it was still cold outside.
After the lights, we walked a few blocks away and got dinner, then walked back to the train station and rode it back. Bennett and Ryan were great and didn’t seem to mind the cold too much, although we made sure to spend a little while in the Visitors’ Center and then at dinner so they would have a chance to warm up. Bennett was pretty excited to be able to ride on the train on the way home. He kept wanting to switch seats so he could sit by mom, then by dad, then by himself. It was a fun night!
