Happy Birthday Bennett!!

Bennett had his first birthday last week! We didn’t do too much on his actual birthday and instead saved the celebrating for a little party on Saturday. Bennett did have his friend Grace come over for a play date on his actual birthday –she brought him a little snack trapper cup and some of her favorite treats. He also tried to steal all her puffy yogurt snacks – I had tried giving them to Bennett several times and he never seemed interested, but LOVED them when Laura was feeding them to Grace and kept going back for more. They had fun exploring the ball popper together too.

Thanks for coming to play Grace!

After Nate got home that night, Bennett got to open a few presents from his Grandma Cindy and mom and dad. He seemed to understand how to rip the wrapping off a little better than at Christmas, and there were so many fun toys he couldn’t decide which to play with first – and kept trying to get through the clear plastic to play with his puzzle.

He went to the doctor for his check-up, and here are the stats:

Height: 29” (25.7%)

Weight: 18.5 lbs (3.3%)

Head: 17.25” (2.2%)

He has supposedly been 29” since 6 months, but I’ve always questioned the accuracy of the measurements. This time, they had a new measuring tool thing that seemed a lot more accurate, so apparently he’s not really that tall. Kind of short. and still skinny.

I just re-read the 11 month post I did to see what has changed – apparently not much. He still loves to get into cupboards and drawers, loves peek-a-boo and chasing mom and dad around. He is getting pretty good at walking while holding onto things, and the last week or so has started to really like his little walking toy (a car that he can ride on or walk behind). He loves bathtime in his ducky tub and will say “ka” for “quack” when he sees the tub. He’s getting a little better at eating non-baby food, although still not great. He really likes cheese, bread, any sort of crackers, and whatever mom and dad are eating (except when you put it on his high chair for him to eat). I’m excited to see him learn how to walk, but at the same time not quite ready for him to grow up :)

Beck,

I think he is already growing up! He looks more grown up already than the last time we saw him.
