Grandpa & Grandma Come to Visit {October 19-22}

Bennett and Ryan were very excited (and Nate and I were too) to have Nate’s parents come visit us for an extended weekend. We had a lot of fun showing them around Seattle and the area where we live, and mostly just spending time together. They boys wanted grandma to do everything for them – buckle them in the car, sit by them at dinner, etc. Here’s a little summary of our weekend (they flew in late Friday night and flew back Tuesday afternoon):

Saturday – We visited some of our favorite tourist spots in Seattle – a picnic at Gas Works Park, a quick stop at Kerry Park, a visit to the Ballard locks, then down to Pike’s Place Market and the waterfront. It was a busy day, but fun to show them around. It was our first really chilly day, but the fall leaves were at their peak and beautiful!

we wore the boys out – Ryan fell asleep in the stroller at Pike’s Place, so he stayed awake to read books before bed – Bennett didn’t last as long.

Sunday: We had our primary program in Sacrament Meeting, so it was fun to have them in town for that. Unfortunately, although Bennett had his part well memorized, he got up on the stand, stood there for about 30 seconds, then turned and went back to his seat without saying his part. He was at least brave enough to go up there – maybe next year we can get him to say his part! He still have fun singing along with the songs though.

After church, we drove out to see Snoqualmie Falls, then stopped at the Issaquah Fish Hatchery on our way home.

Monday/Tuesday: Monday and Tuesday were a little more low-key. On Monday, I had to work at Bennett’s preschool in the morning, so Ryan stayed and played with his grandma and grandpa in the morning, then went with them to meet Nate for lunch. The rest of the day the boys had fun playing tennis and riding their bikes outside. A house behind us was having the roof re-done, so they rode their bikes up with grandpa to watch the worker men – they thought it was pretty fun to watch what they were doing.

On Tuesday morning, after more bike riding and worker-man-watching, we all went for a walk in the park. It was a very “froggy” morning, as Ryan says, which made the tall trees and forest-y area seem almost surreal.

We were sad to see them go on Tuesday, but had a great visit with them! Bennett and Ryan especially loved having their grandparents to themselves, and loved showing them around where we live. Thanks so much for coming to visit!
