The kids surprisingly all slept in a little on Christmas morning. The boys got up around 7:30 and we stalled them until about 8:00, when we woke Eliza up.
They lined up behind the door to the living room (which we had covered with wrapping paper because it’s glass and we didn’t want them to see in), then could come in to see their presents from Santa when the music turned on. We spent the morning opening gifts, playing with toys, and eating yummy breakfast of croissants & hot chocolate and homemade grompères. I was worried that with just our kids there and no other plans for the day, we would get done with opening presents quickly and be bored the rest of the day, but we stretched out the present-opening until almost noon and the kids had fun playing with all their new toys. We only brought a few things with us, so until the sea shipment comes they have been playing with the same few toys. It was nice to have some new ones. We definitely missed our families and felt homesick, but I felt like we made the most of our first Christmas with just our little family.
