Our Life in Luxembourg: Month 5 {March 16-April 15}

Highlights of month 5 in Luxembourg:

Yet another round of sickness – we all had some sort of cold / flu / sinus infection with fevers, headaches, chills, etc. Bennett had an ear infection and some sort of eye infection, and was coughing so badly that he threw up a couple of times, and missed a week of school.

A day of sunshine amidst the cold, rain, and sickness. A lunch picnic on the terrace in the sun felt amazing, and a short trip to the Castle Park later that afternoon. We didn’t stay long before Bennett started coughing and wanted to go home.

No hot water – emailed the landlord and she sent her brother-in-law over. Turns out those knobs in the bathroom that we’ve been using as a toilet paper holder (since the actual holder broke) control the hot water. oops. I was quite embarrassed.

A trip to Nancy, France for Stake Conference. The plaza, the park, an aquarium, and a trip to McDonald’s rounded out the weekend.

Eliza starting to mimic and understand a lot more – wiping the walls with paper towels while I cleaned the bathroom, walking to the drawer of dishes when I asked her to get a bowl and spoon, and taking her dirty diapers to the trash.

Celebrating Nate’s birthday by visiting the Valley of the 7 Castles.

Celebrating Easter by watching General Conference with the Oates, the Whites, and the missionaries and having an easter egg hunt. We continued the celebrations on Sunday with more General Conference, a walk in the Pétrusse valley, and dinner and one more session of Conference with the Oates.

Easter Monday at the Eemaischen festival hunting down Péckvillchen, the flute birds made out of clay, and coloring Easter Eggs that night.

Celebrating Ryan’s 4th Birthday at the farm park and with pizza and a Soccer Ball cake with Star and the Oates. Between Nate’s birthday, Easter, and Ryan’s birthday, I was worn out by the end of the long weekend! Ryan praying at breakfast, “bless that I can get lots of presents”.

Spending a day during the boys’ two-week Easter Vacation at the Jardin de Circulation (“bike park”) with the Oates, then a trip to Ikea, complete with Smalland for the boys, and hot dogs and ice cream cones.
